In reference to your letter of the 21st of March last (No.8621/1906) I have now the pleasure to inform you for the information of the Earl of Elgin that the Royal College of Physicians of London and the Royal College of Surgeons of England have decided to recognise the course of laboratory instruction in Public Health given by Dr. William Hunter, Government Bacteriologist, Hongkong, in the Government Laboratory, as fulfilling the conditions of clause 2, paragraph II, Section II of the Regulations for the Diploma in Public Health, a copy of which I enclose.
I should add that this recognition is personal to Dr. William Hunter and that on the appointment of another Government Bacteriologist it will be necessary for application to be made for the renewal of the recognition.

řence to your letter of the 21st, of March
